Mood Booster Smoothie for Two
It's #SmoothieSunday and we celebrated hard this morning with a super Cinnamon, Coffee, Coconut, Cacao blended breakfast. Sometimes drinking a cup of coffee and a smoothie in the morning is just too much liquid! Well this drink will definitely solve that problem by combining the caffeinating powers of cold brew coffee with the mood boosting benefits of raw cacao in one simple drink. Did you know that cacao is a great source of four scientifically proven bliss chemicals - serotonin, tryptophan, tyrosine and phenylethylamine (According to BeGoodOrganics)? So take out the blender and crank that Mood Booster playlist on Spotify, because this smoothie is sure to pump you up.
First, it's important to have some cold brewed coffee on hand for this drink. So either make some highly concentrated coffee the night before and stick it in the fridge, or purchase your favorite cold brew concentrate to use in the smoothie. We made a strong pot of coffee the night before and planned to use about 8 oz of it for the smoothie.
Also, we recommend keeping frozen bananas on hand all the time. Buy 'em, peel 'em and seal 'em in a plastic bad in the freezer. Even if you don't use them in this drink, freezing them keeps them usable for other recipes like banana bread!
The best part of this smoothie is that even though you blended all the ingredients in a high speed blender, you can taste all the unique and delicious components.
The other ingredients are coconut milk, cinnamon, honey, cacao, sea salt and ice.
Here is how we did it:
Ingredients (Makes 2 smoothies):
- 8oz cold brewed coffee
- 3/4 cup coconut milk
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tbsp cacao
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 frozen bananas
- Sprinkle of sea salt
- Ice to preference
1. After your coffee has brewed and chilled, pour into your blender using the oz guidelines on the side of the blender. We use the Ninja 1000 watt professional NJ600.
2. Add all other remaining ingredients and blend until well combined and texture is desirable.
3. Cheers!
